Great Wall - The Great Wall is one of the few landmarks on earth visible from space. It belongs not only to China, but is part of the cultural heritage of the whole world.
Forbidden City - Within these walls, 24 Chinese emperors ruled China for 500 years. It is now open to the public as a museum and a place to learn about life in the imperial court.
Temple of Heaven - Considered by many residents to be the symbol of Beijing, this triple-eave wooden structure with glazed-tiles and coloured decorative patterns was built for the worship of heaven and for prayers for good harvests.
Tiananmen Square - Most famous in the west for the tragic demonstrations of 1989, this enormous square was the sight for Chairman Mao's proclamation of the founding of China. Here you will also find the Great Hall of the People and the Mao Zedong Memorial Hall.
Summer Palace - The Summer Palace is the best preserved and the largest imperial gardens in China and has an 800 year history. Here you will find some amazing sights including the Marble Boat, the Seventeen Arch Bridge and Longevity Hill.

Yu Garden - This 400 year old garden is an expression of the South China landscape and is reputed to be the most beautiful garden south of the Yangtze River.
Shanghai Museum - The museum opened to visitors at the end of 1995 and holds over 120,000 works- one third of which have never before been on display. The museum has 10 showrooms featuring amongst others, bronze wares, ceramics, ancient Chinese paintings, sculptures and furniture. It accounts for almost half of the total of such collections in China.
Jade Buddha Temple - Famous for its two jade Buddha statues, this temple is the most popular Buddhist temple in the city.
The Bund - A narrow piece of river bank with grand hotels, shopping centres and clubs, the Bund is a uniquely European area in the middle of Shanghai and is the most famous sightseeing spot in the city.
Oriental Pearl TV Tower - This is the world’s third tallest TV and radio tower and has the most spectacular view over Shanghai. The upper viewing deck houses shops, places to eat and a rotating restaurant. |
